Petrobras Platform Accident Leaves 1 Dead and 2 Injured.

Ubarana Platform 3 (PUB-3) Petrobras (Guamaré region),

A Petrobas worker was killed and 2 were injured while transferring from a boat to the rig platform. Reports by Sindipetro-RN, a regional oil worker’s union, state that safety technician Aldo Dias de Lima, 49, was thrown from the basket at a loading platform after the crane transporting the men made a sharp turn and apparently struck the platform causing several employees to fall approximately six meters.

Mechanic Francis Wilson managed to hold onto a railing and suffered only minor bruising. Another worker ,Pedro Leopoldo, fractured his femur and ankle.

 The injured were treated at the infirmary of the PUB-3 and then transferred to the PUB-2 platform  then transferred to Natal while Aldo Dias succumbed to his injuries and died on the platform around 7:40 pm.
Sindipetro-RN has stated " It's hard to believe a company this size has yet to use better safety technology to care for worker safety.  It's also difficult to imagine that lack helicopters and appropriate care for injured workers".

Petrobras said it has set up a technical committee to investigate the causes of the accident, which has been officially communicated to the civil police and the National Petroleum Agency, or ANP, Brazil's oil industry regulator.
